The third season of Adrellia Village started on March 17th! Episode 42, the 10-minute-long season premiere, kicked off the third season and won Daily Feature. Season 3 will last throughout the whole year of 2013 and is planned to have fourteen episodes; however, that's subject to change and nothing is final yet. Most of the episodes follow a continuous story arc so I would highly recommend watching the previous episode before you watch an episode. I already finished three season 3 episodes so far, and I'm working on episode 44. I won't go into details about what episode 44's about, but I will say that I'm sure you'll enjoy it and you won't need to watch the previous episodes to enjoy it. There will be new episodes released regularly, so be sure to be on the lookout for new episodes in the Portal!

For all of the musicians reading this post, if you have an Audio Portal submission you would like to see used in a season 3 episode, please let me know and I guarantee that it will eventually be used. I'm also looking for a background artist for the season.

Here's the season 3 playlist. Also, be sure to check out episode 39 as well.

Thanks for reading. Pictured below is a screenshot from the upcoming episode. Be sure to catch the upcoming episode, "King William, I'm Coming Home" on April 9!

Adrellia Village: Season 3

Posted by MistyE - December 27th, 2012

I started the year off with, "Adrellia Village #38." I had spent almost the entire year of 2011 working on it on and off. I spent most of 2011 procrastinating, so it probably would've taken me two months to complete at most if I didn't procrastinate. It's a little sloppy and unpolished by my current standards, but at the time, it was my best work and it marked a massive shift in the quality of the flash cartoons I was animating.

My next project was the "Strawberry's Break" series, featuring characters from the Clock Crew. The focus wasn't so much on the characters as it was on the fact that the amount of submissions and animators who frequent Newgrounds has been declining. I eventually compiled all four episodes into a movie.

"Adrellia Village: School" was a compilation of three Adrellia Village shorts I produced as school projects. "China in the Middle Ages" was my educational quarter project for history; "Almandines n' Stuff" was my project for science; "Veteran's Day" was for a school event honoring veterans.

"How to be funny" is currently my most popular cartoon of 2012. I made it initially as kind of a rant. In retrospect, I don't think it lives up to my current standards, but I can't say I regret making it, because I don't. I will admit though, that I think a lot of it is pretty immature.

I continued my 2010 Flash tutorial series with "Flash 8: Importing Videos," which is pretty self-explanatory. It also gave me a chance to use some of that gorgeous waterfall stock footage I found on YouTube. Yes, I had permission to use it.

"Neverending Enigma" was a 30-second entry to the now-shelved Odd Collab. At the time I was heavily influenced by ZekeySpaceyLizard.

"Wacky Astronomy ADVENTURE" was quite possibly the best school project I have ever animated, and the students thought so too. No, that's not the Star Syndicate, those are just stars.

"Adrellia Village #39" is quite possibly one of my most memorable projects to date. I started the project in January and finally finished it in June. It was a collaboration, though I did a lot of the work. 50secondsaway provided beautiful backgrounds for it that really improved the episode. I was trying to give my old, "Adrellia Village" series a re-vamp. Episode 39 did not stay true to its roots at all, though I still enjoy it because it felt more like an actual cartoon show. I learned a lot while making this and have a lot of good memories during its production. It was front paged for about a day, and although it only got about a thousand views on the front page, I'm still very thankful to Tom for putting there in the first place and glad that I made it on the front page in the first place.

"Cookin' with Mama" was my attempt at making a video game parody. It didn't have actual dialogue, unless you count the "Wundafoo!" line I took directly from the game. It was basically just two music videos put together.

"R.I.P. Neil Armstrong" was my tribute to Neil Armstrong. It had about a 3.64, but then it was taken off by a moderator because "it was just a few drawings and a video." Due to a bug, even though it was unpublished from Newgrounds, it still won daily 4th place. This caused confusion among the people who saw P-Bot's post. It was eventually restored because the video of Neil Armstrong landing on the moon might be public domain.

"Night at the Casino" is one of my better movies. It was inspired by my summer trip to Las Vegas. I bought a souvenir DVD that had about 45 minutes of Las Vegas scenery with the intention of using it as reference material for my cartoon. When I got back, "Night at the Casino" was born.

When "Adrellia Village #40: SE" was made, I didn't want to make a big deal about it like I did with episode 39, I just wanted to advance the plotline. It featured a bunch of "dialogue boxes," but I still think it was okay.

"Dexter's Leaving Home" was my tribute to WillieD891, an aspiring flash animator. I heard there was gonna be something like Willie D Day, so I made something in a few hours and submitted it ten minutes before the actual Willie D Day.

"Kingdom Farts" is my second best work to date, right behind episode 39 in my opinion. It's a parody of Kingdom Hearts (I bet you never could've guessed), a game that I personally love. Some of the jokes poke fun at parts of the game, though I actually played it at least four times. The script was written in April and I did the first fifteen seconds of it in April, when I abandoned it by the end of April. I came back to it eventually by the end of July and worked pretty hard on it until it was finally finished on September 19. One of my biggest regrets is that I submitted it right before Madness Day, so it got overshadowed.

"iPhone 5 Ad Parody" was me jumping on the iPhone 5 parody bandwagon. It was put together in a few hours, and the script was written in a few minutes. The voice actor, Jonathan Cooke, saved this cartoon. His voice acting is really good.

I don't even know what inspired "The Bird." It just came out of nowhere, really. I don't have anything else to say about it.

"Give Me a Sign" was my attempt at animating a full music video. I never actually finished a music video. I used to stop halfway through the song and just upload it to Newgrounds. I misheard one of the lyrics as "stars" instead of "scars," so that had a heavy impact on the music video's direction. I don't care if I misheard it though. It's a thousand times better with the cartoon stars.

"Pacman's Last Stand," like "Kingdom Farts," and, "Cookin' with Mama," was an attempt at a video game parody. It wasn't anything like what I imagined it to be, but I'm still proud of it because of the painted backgrounds I implemented into it and the artwork on the judge.

"Song of Storms" was my homage to Legend of Zelda. It was not inspired by the Nyan Cat Genre Hopping video - its similarity to that is a coincidence. I was shocked to find out this was submitted to the Zelda collection. It's the first cartoon of mine to make it into a collection, ever.

The rest is a bunch of Flash Library episodes that I won't go into detail about. They're basically just themed daily collaborations.

time to make my monthly news post. this was my september news post and i don't think i'll be linking to my october news post since 2 of the flashes there were removed and the other one is some really simplistic game

.
november

i started off november with "give me a sign." it's the first music video where i actually finished the song. yes, there were some re-used scenes, though i didn't have a lot of ideas for the song, and i still wanted to finish it. i wasn't feeling very confident with my now-removed cartoon "the bird" so i took it off newgrounds and used most of it for footage for "give me a sign." it worked too, it really corresponded with the song. so that was convenient, i guess.

i followed that with "pacman's last stand," a parody cartoon about, you guessed it, pacman. i was actually surprised at the score it got, i didn't expect anything higher than a 3.2, but i woke up and saw that it was at 3.49. i definitely owe the entertainment value of that one to my voice actors.

"song of storms" was a homage to one of my favorite video game songs from zelda. given the huge amount of remixes, i thought it would be nice to have different scenes for each different version of the song.

september

i started september off with "night at the casino," a cartoon i've been working on since last week, in which i test out some new characters and environments. i originally intended for it to be three minutes but i ran out of ideas and decided to just end it after the mario parody in the end.

"adrellia village #40: se" is, you guessed it, the sequel to "adrellia village #39: se." before anybody says anything, i am aware of the inconsistency between the parts with voice acting and the parts without voice acting, but animating it would be too much trouble considering how i plan to advance the plot. it also won a daily 5th award!

"dexter's leaving home" is a willie d fan cartoon i made, the original willie d toons can be found here, i definitely recommend them. i've been wanting to do a music video to a beatles song for a while now, so i figured i'd kill two birds with one stone. keep in mind, it was made in about four hours, though.

i started work on "kingdom farts" in april, abandoned it for a few months, and came back to it recently. this is the highlight of september, and my longest flash to date. i tried not to rely on vulgarity a lot.

"iPhone 5 ad parody" was made after i saw all of the iPhone 5 commercial parodies on youtube. i tried to make it a little different from all of the other parodies, in that it's less subtle. i think it's a decent choice to follow "kingdom farts."

As I'm aware that some of you might not want to go through the trouble of going through my list of flashes to find a certain Adrellia Village episode, I decided to take it upon myself to build a directory full of every episode ever created along with some personal commentary that nobody cares about!
.

SEASON ONE

A few years ago, after being inspired by a video game, I proceeded to write several stories that were nearly blatant rip-offs of the video game's plotline. The last one I wrote was titled, "Adrellia Village." At the time, I wanted to make a new animated series and decided that translating the original Adrellia Village novel into a cartoon series would be a fun project.

These episodes are what I like to consider the "classic" episodes - everything was done on two or three layers, and every tween was placed inside a movie clip! While not the best in artistic value, I still believe these episodes hold a certain vibe that I couldn't achieve now.

Adrellia Village #3
Adrellia Village #4
Adrellia Village #5
Adrellia Village #6
Adrellia Village #7
Adrellia Village #8

Episodes 9, 10 and 11 marked the Great Castle Chambers trilogy. While some might not have liked it due to filler and voicing inconsistencies, they remain one of my favorite episodes of retro Adrellia Village.

Adrellia Village #9
Adrellia Village #10
Adrellia Village #11

Episodes 12 and 13 were both somewhat short episodes that slowly advanced the plot, while Episode 14 was one of the longest retro episodes (the longest being 7).

Adrellia Village #12
Adrellia Village #13
Adrellia Village #14

Episodes 15, 16 and 17 are narrations (except for 17, which was silently narrated) about Brutus' troubled past. Despite running 7 minutes in total, a bunch of these episodes retain comedic value by synchronizing rather self-satirizing visuals to serious narrations.

I removed Episode 16 in December 2011 because I felt it was sub-par and people could do without it, but I decided to restore it a few months later for the record.

Adrellia Village #15
Adrellia Village #16
Adrellia Village #17

Episode 18 is another personal favorite episode, and for the record, it's the first and only episode as of the time I'm writing this to contain a rating (TV-PG). It also features outtakes. Episode 19 really wasn't an episode, just a promo in hopes that more people would watch the series.

Adrellia Village #18
Adrellia Village #19

Episode 20 to 24 are for the most part, short episodes. These are the last few episodes before the temporary no-voice-acting period!

Adrellia Village #20
Adrellia Village #21
Adrellia Village #22
Adrellia Village #23
Adrellia Village #24

Episodes 25 to 33 marked the period of no voice acting, and as you can see, the scores have been negatively affected by it. Our voice actor had a throat problem, but I continued the series anyway. This also contained a period in which I tried to make Adrellia Village a daily animated webcomic! Episode 28 is also my personal least favorite for obvious reasons.

THE TRANSITION BETWEEN RETRO AND NEW ADRELLIA VILLAGE

By the end of season 1, my drawing skills and Flash skills have already improved a lot. Episode 34 was a pivotal episode because it marked the end of the first original Adrellia Village story and because of the huge improvement from episode 1. It ended with Drake and the gang defeating Brutus, all of the episodes after episode 34 are what happens after they defeated him.

Adrellia Village #34

I wrpte a sequel to the original Adrellia Village novel, and episode 35 followed the same pattern that the old ones did by almost word-for-word and action-by-action animating what the novel said. It was also released after Christmas.

Adrellia Village #35
.

THE MUSIC VIDEOS

Yes, Adrellia Village #36 was a ripoff of the original Eddsworld Tribute music video, I'll admit. It's not the best, but I personally don't think it deserves to be "delated" as one reviewer remarks. Adrellia Village #37, on the other hand, was original, but I never finished it because of lack of motivation.

THE EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS

A bunch of people hate these, and personally, I don't blame them. These were made as school projects, so there might be an informative overload.

NEW ADRELLIA VILLAGE

At long last.

Episode 38 was worked on sporadically during 2011. It was in production for several months, mainly because of all of the procrastinating I did. It was the very first Adrellia Village episode to win a daily award!

Episode 39 marked a huge change in the overall quality of the series, and was the very first Adrellia Village episode to be a collaborative effort. It got daily 2nd place and frontpaged, and it ended up attracting a few newcomers to the series. It's currently the most-viewed episode of the series now, at around 16,000 views.

.
NOTE: I recommend skipping this section. These are not important to the plotline and do not represent my overall artistic ability.

"AV: The Pixel Lord" was the result of what happened when I decided that Adrellia Village needed more games, and that the Pixel Lord plot would be more fun if the viewer could play a mini-game. Episode 40 was the first episode to not have a specific runtime, since how long it takes you to finish it all depends on your reading speed. There was minimal voice acting. Episode 41 was a really simplistic game that was meant to give viewers an interactive look into Adrellia. It didn't do very well.
