Amazing.

The animation was a huge improvement from your other cartoons. There was a lot of frame-by-frame animation and all of it is really smooth and nice to look at, especially since it's all done on ones. Though the animation was great overall, there are a few minor things I'd like to go over.

I think the rain animation in the first shot could've been improved, maybe it'd be better if you drew the rain once and then panned it down for an endless loop. I also think that the way it just sort of fades out before the next shot is a bit weird, I think it'd look better if it just kept raining.

Really smart use of music choice. The music set the atmosphere for this scene and it really enhances the emotion the viewer could feel through this scene.

The voice acting was really good, everyone who voice acted really nailed the emotion of this scene. There's a minor issue I noticed with the lines, though it's not with the voice acting itself, it's about the sound levels. Frogman's lines are noticeably louder than Pico's, and sometimes the background music makes Pico's voice seem a bit soft, but it's okay for the most part. For Pico's "wallowing in my sorrows" line, the reading seemed a bit too fast, unless that's what you were aiming for.

I really like the writing, a lot of emotion in it and I agree with the message about NG's popularity declining.

Overall this was really good and I look forward to seeing more!

Yeah, I agree about the rain, I think I'll change that in the final version.
I think the imbalance in audio levels is due to different mics being used. I used a cheap headset for Pico's lines, and though it's not crap, it is a bit quiet. FrogMan's voice actor recorded with a blue yeti, so his lines would be louder. I suppose I could go back and fix the audio levels though. I'm not sure what would be with the line sounding too fast, though I do tend to read lines rather fast sometimes, so I guess that's a messup on my part, thank you for the compliments on the voice acting though.
Thank you for the review. It will really help with working on the rest of the film.

Haha, "last pieces of Monopoly."

The animation is stiff though, that's really the only advice I can give.

TheRealNat23 responds:

The animation is stiff, you are right, but thanks for this review!

A new series, huh? The series' premise sounds very interesting and promising, so I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing it. You have a pretty nice art style. I particularly like your character design, it looks really good.

I like your color choices, they look really good with the exception of the last shot - on the last shot the colors seem too bright, though everything else looks great.

This is pretty decent for two days worth of work. Overall this was pretty good visually and I like your art style, I wish to see more of it later on. Good luck on your projects!

Thanks! its always overwhelming to hear good feedback and I'll try to get an episode out before you know it!

Very well written and some really good animation here. I was never bored while watching this, it was very interesting and entertaining. It's obvious tons of time and effort was put into this, and it all piad off in the end.

I really like how every scene is fully animated, the frame-by-frame animation is top-notch and very smooth. I like the color choices too.

Absolutely brilliant.

much worse than Willie D Rumble Knocked Out.

there's no voice acting or lip sync here, not even any frame-by-frame animation in the places that need it most. it seems like you're progressing backwards. this retained the same bad qualities of "Knocked Out" but it didn't have any of the good qualities of "Knocked Out."

the four-second blinks are ridiculous. characters shouldn't blink for more than two frames. you let them blink for more than two seconds. it looks awful and it may seem like something minor, but it has a big effect on the overall submission.

one of the bad qualities that "Knocked Out" had that this one does as well is that there were scenes that dragged on far too long. when dexter's theme music was playing, it was just the text "Dexter the Dog" over a poorly colored background. you could've at least put more scenes during the theme music so it seemed varied.

there are a lot of re-used drawings here, especially on dexter's face, i've seen that drawing re-used way too many times which would be okay, but the original drawing of dexter's face is bad in itself.
the actual drawing is unpolished and the line quality looks bad.

it's ok to re-use drawings if the drawings you're re-using are good, but you took the squiggly Willie D from "Knocked Out" and re-used it for this submission. the title cards went on for far too long.

there was no animation in this at all, just a choppy slideshow of images in the format of a comic strip. it feels like you're going backwards here.

lastly i'd personally advise against doing a dexter spinoff, it seems unnecessary and dexter episodes can be part of the willie d series.

okay i understand :)

The best episode of the Adventures of Willie D so far.

PROS:
- This episode had complete voice acting, while your other episodes featured little to no voice acting. All of your new episodes should have voice acting all of the time, like this one. Voice acting really makes things a lot better.
- The way you used the V-Cam was nice.
- I like your walk cycles and how you made them faster when they were running away.
- You actually lip-synced Willie D this time. Keep it up.
- This is all brand-new material, nothing old that we've seen before.

BAD:

- While this is 4 times better than the other episodes, there's still a lot of room for improvement. Maybe you should have an episode about Mudd Mann, without him bullying Willie D and without Willie D. You should explain who Mudd Mann is more clearly. He certainly seems like an interesting villain, what are his strengths? What are his weaknesses? That's something to talk about in your next cartoon.
- People always call Willie the "Hero Kid" but I don't understand why. He hasn't done anything heroic yet, maybe you should have another episode where he does something heroic, like he saves somebody, he saves a bunch of people, etc. That way it would be understandable why he's called the "Hero Kid."
- Willie D shouldn't always win. There are a bunch of episodes where Willie D fights someone and he always win. I know you're trying to make your character seem likable and cool, but he should lose sometimes. The audience would feel for him more if he demonstrated his weaknesses. If he always wins, there's no fun in that. If we watch four movies with the same character and he always wins, it gets old. Make him lose, add plot twists. Don't be afraid to show Willie D's other side.
- Matt should really be in more of these, in the original series he was Willie's best friend, maybe if you have another episode where Mudd Mann bullies Willie D, you should have Matt beside Willie trying to help him, but failing.

OVERALL:

Overall, this is a huge improvement from your other episodes. Much better now that it has lip-sync and voice acting. Keep it up, but there will always be room for improvement. Try to get better with each episode.

an improvement from your other episodes, it just needs a clearer storyline

RogersEntertainment responds:

Thanks Misty

This is a huge step up from your previous episodes. Eight minutes is a great length for a cartoon series episode, and a great goal for an animator.

The introduction was pretty impressive and I liked the piano music. I think I liked it better when you used Hollywood Swinging as your intro music, though. I think Hollywood Swinging fits the Willie D show more than the piano music.

My suggestion is that for the introduction, when we see Willie D, it will say "Starring Willie D" and when we see Dexter, it will say "Starring Dexter" to make it feel like an intro of a TV show.

1:05 to 1:15 went on too long. Here we see Willie D moving his eyes for about ten seconds, and I understand what you are trying to do here, I just think that this type of scene should only go on for about three seconds to keep people's attention spans.

1:56 to 2:20 was great because of the dialogue and plot development going on, if you could keep every episode like that, it would be an improvement in your storytelling.

I noticed you included my Willie D is Missing Part 2 animation that I did for you. I think you should have included that before the part from 1:56 to 2:20, to give the viewer a better understanding of the whole "Willie D is rich" thing.

And then Willie Soup starts all of a sudden. I think it would be much better if you could focus on one plot, however you managed to focus on three different plots: Willie D missing, Willie D getting rich and Willie D turning into a soup.

4:14 to 5:18 is just a slideshow, and I have nothing against slideshows if they're well-done, though a lot of the drawings lack color. It would benefit from color and more detail.

5:18 to the end is just Willie D in real life. This would be good, but I cannot hear what you are saying, so that's a problem.

I really appreciate that you care about your fans and want to make them happy. Once you get better at storytelling and art, this could be a great series. Also, one question: You say there will be two new episodes on 7:00 until 7:30. What day will the two new episodes be on? Friday?

RogersEntertainment responds:

Thanks Misty Monday thru Friday
