The spirit of Jimmy Pee keeps Newgrounds alive

threebrain responds:

Tanks! Haha your "Devil's Food Cake" cartoon was crazy in a goot way.

This is some really high quality stuff! I also enjoyed the soundtrack, it complemented the animation well, so good work on that.

Why would you do this to the Minions ©?! This really makes my Dick™ retract.

Do Finding Dory next

artistunknown responds:

Dude, how'd you trademark your dick? I've been wanting to figure that out for years!

The paper cutout style you've got going here is pretty interesting, the movements look pretty fluid and smooth as a result. As for areas for improvement, I'd have to agree with ShaeGuy that more facial and body movements could definitely work in this submission's favor. Regardless, this was pretty well put together. Keep up the good work and good luck on your future projects!

CaptainJackTHAC0 responds:

Thank you very much for the review! I'm definitely going to try working on facial and body movements in future projects, that has also been brought up a few times now so I think that's an important area to get better at. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!

It's stuff like this that makes Newgrounds great. Never stop, New Wave.

Hey Willie! It's been a while, hope things are going well for you.

Your animation, specifically your frame-by-frame animation, has improved a lot. As someone who's watched your animations through the years, it's clear that your frame-by-frame animation is getting much better and it's important that you recognize that. It's fluid and it's a massive improvement over the somewhat choppy animation in some of your past works. There seems to be more thought being put into the character poses and the animation looks considerably smoother. However, although your frame-by-frame animation has improved, there are still other areas that could really use improvement.

The backgrounds need improvement. The colors have a very flat and unappealing look to them. In these particular examples, what I immediately notice off the bat is an overuse of brown. If you wanna use brown a lot in the backgrounds, that's fine - but you could try out different shades of brown, or at least a shade of brown that doesn't really look like one of the Flash default colors. I'm also seeing that the brush you used to draw the backgrounds is very thick, and the brush work is uneven around the edges.

To sum up, you can improve your backgrounds by choosing more vibrant colors, varying shades of colors, and using a smaller brush size when drawing them.

A huge area for improvement is also the pacing. There's no real buildup to the confrontation between Willie and Mudd Mann. There are parts, like for example at 0:07 where the video is stuck on a still frame and the pacing is messed up. This happens again at 0:17. Everything just happens too fast. Also, the man holding a gun to Willie is not explained; I understand that the point is to arouse interest and provide a cliffhanger, but it doesn't work without context.

To sum up, you can improve your pacing by getting rid of the parts where the video is stuck on a still frame after a lot of action is happening. You can improve it by taking more time with certain things, and making sure the viewer can understand what's going on.

Please don't get discouraged by the negative feedback - I'd personally love to see you improve and I've outlined some basic things you can do to get where you wanna be. Your animation is improving for sure - the backgrounds and pacing departments just need more work if you want people to be engaged with your show and the universe you've created.

I hope this was helpful for you, and good luck on your future projects!

Good job! The artwork looks pretty nice. A bit simplistic, but nice nonetheless. Great line work. As a speedpaint, Beethoven is definitely an interesting choice of music. I probably would have personally preferred if this speedpaint was actually sped up again by 2x, though that's just a personal preference. Again, good artwork - keep up the good work!

Domonization responds:

Beethoven's music is usually very dramatic; it goes very well with how chaotic I work, haha. And I feel like Morning Mood works because it comes in as I'm just finishing up.

Well I thought this was pretty great dude, everything looked visually appealing. The only minor qualm I have with it is that it was a bit choppy at times as some shots looked like they needed more inbetweens but again, that's just a minor qualm. Although the song does have a comedic effect to it, I don't feel like it contrasts the animation itself in a negative way. Looking forward to seeing what you do in the future!

I don't know why this is so funny
